Fifth Class Sports Day 2017

On Wednesday the 25th of May we had our sports day. We were blessed with amazing weather. At the start of the day we assembled and went to the all-weather pitch. There we played football with Ms. O’Leary managing one game and Ms. Lenihan managing the other. When the football matches came to a close we played two games of penalty shoot-out. When we had snack and regained our energy with some mouth-watering oranges, we headed to our local green. There we played games such as potato and spoon, sack race and wheelbarrow race. We even managed to fit in a game of rounders! In the afternoon, we played basketball, dodgeball and we used the parachute. To top it all off, we had a delicious ice-cream. We all had a great time and it will definitely be a highlight of the year.

Junior Infant Sports Day
The boys and girls in Junior Infants had an amazing day today for their first Sports Day ever. They were all so good that their teachers decided to make the boys and girls vanilla ice-cream sandwiches as a special Sports Day treat!

Marathon Challenge
Mr Gurhy's 6th class have begun their Marathon Challenge. Over the next few weeks the class will run, jog and walk 2km each morning until they reach their 42km target. 4km down, 38km to go! Wish us luck!!!

Balancing Room 10!

This week in Room 10, we’re learning all about weight. The boys and girls had a great time making their own balances which they used to measure heavy and light objects. They made their balances using clothes hangers, string and paper cups. We also practiced using real balances and played some fun maths games using ‘Glencoe Virtual Manipulatives’.
Well done everyone!
