
Over the past semester Mr.Gurhy and Mr.Ryan ran a lunchtime Junior Gaelic Football League for the boys in 3rd and 4th class. There were six teams, each team playing each other once. After weeks of entertaining games, Kerry and Mayo faced off in the final.

There was great excitement in Scoil Thomáis today when All Ireland Senior Football Champion Ciarán Kilkenny visited with the Sam Maguire cup. Pupils from Junior Infants and Senior Infants formed a guard of honour welcoming our special guests to the school. When Ciarán and the Sam Maguire arrived to the hall, there was a great reception from pupils and staff. Some pupils from 6th Class got the chance to ask Ciarán some questions like "Who would you pick to play for the Dublin team?" and "Do you think GAA players should be paid?". Well done to the boys and girls who made the best estimations in Ms Travers' Maths Week Estimation challenge! We hope you enjoy your prizes!

During Maths Week, Ms Travers has been running a competition for the best guess of how many spools and how many cubes are in her tubs...every pupil has had a chance to estimate an answer and Ms Travers will be making an announcement with the winners' names very soon!

Children from 4th, 5th and 6th classes will have the opportunity to enjoy using an innovative new problem solving apparatus called IZAK9 during Maths Week this week. With encouragement from characters Abacus and Helix, pupils are encouraged to do, plan, review and make sense of maths problems using the IZAK9 cubes. The children really enjoyed using IZAK9 today as you can see in our video below.
