School Activities '13 - '14

Book Week

Book Week is currently underway in Scoil Thomáis and the staff and pupils have been enthusiastically celebrating their favourite books and authors. All week, the pupils have been engaging in a range of literary activities (see poster below). We have created a special 'Book Week' section on our website. You can find it by clicking on the 'School Activities' tab above or by clicking here. We will continue to upload more information and photographs from Book Week so make sure to check back regularly in the coming weeks!

A Visit from a Minister

P1020013

We had a visit from local politicians, Minister Joan Burton and local representative John Walsh, to the school today. They spoke with Ms McGarry and Ms Ryan before visiting the library to admire all of the work that has recently been done to upgrade the facilities there. Ms Steen and Ms Kelly told them about how much the pupils in the school love reading books. Minister Burton then met the pupils and teachers from the Green Team. She asked the pupils about the work that had to be done to earn our green flag, and laughed when we told her how democratic and polite our Green Team meetings are and how there was no need for a Ceann Comhairle at our meetings! After a quick cup of tea, the group were treated to a song from our choir.

We want to say a big WELL DONE to Ms Galligan and the pupils of Scoil Thomáis choir who took part in a very special performance with the Three Tenors in Draíocht, Blanchardstown on Friday night! They sang beautifully and made us all very proud!

Storyteller Visit

Junior Infants to Third Class enjoyed a visit from Storytellers Liz Weir and Brendan Nolan on Friday, 28th of February. The children really enjoyed participating in the different stories told by Liz and Brendan. It was a great start to the various activities Ms Lenihan and Ms Steen have planned for Book Week 2014. Here are some pictures of Junior Infants enjoying Liz Weir's stories.
